Campania is the region around Naples. Despite the well-known fertility of the volcanic and alluvial soils in this part of Italy, and its long history of viticulture, Campania’s yields remain relatively low.
The main wines from the region include the red Taurasi (DOCG), which due to its depth and ability to age, is often called the Barolo of the south, and two of Italy’s most distinguished white varietals: Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo (both DOC) grown in the hills east of Naples. |
